The home team pressed, but after 10 minutes Ferris scored a somewhat lucky goal for Devizes, the home defence being rather shaky. Keeping up the Devizes attack, Fielding scored again. Wootton Bassett fought back spiritedly but could not score. Devizes were the better side up to the interval. A few minutes after the interval Fuller scored a nice goal for the home team and also put the ball into the net again but was given offside. Both goalkeepers were very safe and Boore distinguished himself by saving good shots by Lane and Clifton saved from D. Smith and Ferris. Prince and Weston ware outstanding for Devizes.
